Do DVD recorders copy the 5.1 soundtrack?

Neiliboy (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 8th March 2003, 09:57

Hi,

Im not very familiar with DVD Recorders and am thinking of buying one soon-ish. I heard that they only copy into Digital Stereo and not 5.1.

Is this true and wil there be any players released that copy the full soundtrack also?

Thanks,

Neil

Micky is right - if you`re interested in copying DVDs, then you`re *much* better off getting a PC-based DVD writer. That way, you can make direct digital copies instead of inferior analogue ones.

The only advantage of a stand-alone DVD recorder is that it`s more convenient for recording from analogue sources, like TV or VHS.

if you have a pc thats suitably located you could purchase a dvd recorder for the pc and also get a TV capture card

then u would be able to make exact digital dvd copise(5.1 an all) and also record from the tv onto dvd with stereo sound much the same as a seperate dvd recorder.

all this for less than a dvd recorder with all the added benefits
