Another AIWA 370 happy customer (at the moment!)

martin d (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 2nd January 2001, 12:36

I have just purchased an AIWA 370 from COMET (Lakeside) after returning a Wharfedale 750S with brightness problems. I am pretty impressed with the picture quality from the AIWA compared to the Wharfedale especially on R1 discs (eg Fight Club). I was able to region hack it with no problems although when I first played a R1 film my TV screen was flickering like mad. I checked the `pseudo PAL` setting which should be ON (and it was) but for some reason my TV will only work with it in the OFF position!! (very strange). Other than this teething problem which has been rectified I have been able to play my R1 discs and an NTSC VCD of Nutty Prof II with no problems.

If you are thinking of buying a budget player of around £200 I would seriously consider this player as it looks nice and has alot of features (eg MP3 on-screen menu!) and does a good job of converting NTSC to PAL50.

Thanks for all the feed back from all the forum users who replied to my quuestions as they did help me in deciding which player to buy.

MartinD.

Sounds good

I hope to get mine delivered from comet on Friday (from a store outside the area - no AIWA 370 in SW at all)

What sort of bookmarking features does it have?

What i find strange is that The aiwa site doesn`t mention DVD at all and there are hardly any reviews for it on the internet.

It must be popular cos its good and Jimbo has done a good job of marketing it!

I am also expecting an Aiwa 370 this Friday - being shipped from Ipswich to me in P`boro by Comet.

A bonus of ordering by mail with Comet is that they will give you a full refund within the first 7 days no questions asked, as opposed to when you buy it from a Comet store, when their returns policy appears to be much stricter. So, if I`m not completely happy, I can get my dosh back and get a Pioneer.

ROLL ON FRIDAY...

If you read the details at the site....

It says about returns only allowed if the product is unopened...

so be careful

Its a risk, but no one has complained at all about the AIWA
