Help needed to buy first Budget DVD Player

Tall73 (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 4th February 2003, 23:49

Can you please recommend which budget DVD player I should buy? I have a max of £90 to spend.

It needs to be multi regional, play all formats of disks? What other features should i need?

Friends have recommend the Pacific DVD1002 or Arion et 2255 DVD Player. Should I go for one of these or is there a better one to buy

Many thanks for your help

The Alba 114 (a.k.a. Bush 2024) is a fantastic cheapie, if you can get hold of it. Excellent quality; multi-region; plays VCDs, MP3s, recordables.

It`s no longer available from Argos, but if you happen to be a Makro trade card holder (or know someone who is) then you can buy it in their current sale for £49 plus VAT.

Brand names are getting cheaper now.

Get a Samsung 224 for only £89.98 delivered below or £100 in Argos, good review and multiregion with hack

If you could spend a bit more you can get a Pioneer for only £105!!

I have been very impressed with the Mico Diamantee 3000 £69.99 from Sainsbury`s

Plays every thing you can throw at it with a simple up grade from the Mico site it plays VCD SVCD but out of the box is multi regional and plays back up DVD`s

but its your choice

STOP PRESS!!!

I do apologise. Turns out my local Makro store have stacked the wrong players up - they do have 114s in stock but they mistakenly stacked 108s under the sale signs and are charging the same price. Off I go back to get a lovely 114!!!

I have just travelled all the way to Makro to purchase the alba 114. Makro have advertised it as the 114 but when you get there it`s the dreaded 108!!! Only works out a tenner cheaper than Argos.

Don`t waste your time or your petrol - Makro have made a mistake in their sale leaflet.
