Macrovision Removers - Fact or Fiction?
I have seen both the decoding boxes and scart cables that cliam to disable macrovision. Is this true and if so do they work well or aren`t they worth it?
RE: Macrovision Removers - Fact or Fiction?
They`re fact - try http://www.sonel.com for the very original Macmaster lead.
Many MV-unhackable players` owners swear by it :-)
RE: Macrovision Removers - Fact or Fiction?
Tried to make a bakup of each of my dvd/vhs films using panasonic E30 dvd recorder all i got was a "copy protected" message. Read various reviews and technical info and the out come was that i required a stabilising device that would allow a backup to be made.
I tried several devices video conditioner, video decoder, macro master, copymate and devices from maplins, lekktropacks, sonel, smartchipps, all of which i returned for a refund.
I bought a Smart Leads I.S.Pro Gold in december and it worked fine on about 90 % of my bought films, I contacted them in january and they had changed to an upgraded version which they exchanged for me for free.
It works 100 % so far and is just perfect. If you were going to buy one and you wanted an oppinion I would say its amazing, excellent quality, well manufactured, good value, shipping a bit slow (10 days), e-mail response a bit slow 3 days. Im not sure weather i can say the commpany so e-mail me.

DR DVD,
"just so you know i have tried ther version with no luck."
That`s because you`re talking about something totally different.
The Sonel Mac Master removes *Macrovision* which is what prevents you copying DVDs to a *VHS* video recorder. The IS Pro Gold removes *CGMS* which is what stops you copying DVDs to a *DVD* (or other digital) recorder.
Basically: If you want to copy to VHS, get a Mac Master. If you want to copy to DVD, get an I.S. Pro Gold.

RE: Macrovision Removers - Fact or Fiction?
I had a mac master (bought from innovations.co.uk) so I could run my dvd thru` my vhs, as my TV had no scart socket. It did work and got rid of any macro distortions, but it also seemed to affect the sound on certain dvds - the volume had to be pushed up to the max, and there was a background hiss. But it did serve it`s purpose untill I bought a new TV.
