Page 1 of Recording VHS to DMR-E20
Hardware Forum
Sorry if this has been covered over and over again, but could someone please explain in idiot terms what I need to be able to backup my collection of VHS films to dvd-r on my Panny DMR-E20?
Many thanks for helping a technopleb........
You need to get a scart to scart lead and plug it out of your AV1 VHS Scart and connect it to the DMR E-20 AV2 input. From the DMR-E20 remote, press input select until AV2 appears in the front display, then put your DVD-R in, press record and voila! (remember to finalise the DVD-R before you try and play it in another dvd player otherwise, the disc will not be recognised (achieved thru the disc information icon on top window button)
Hope this helps! PS this will not work if the original tape have macrovision - you will then need to purchase a macrovision buster from Maplin or Letropaks.

RE: Recording VHS to DMR-E20
Thanks for your reply Fred. The "macrovision" bit is an anti-copying signal on the tape I guess? What device to I need to get over this, as I can`t seem to find the right gadget at Maplin.
Thanks again
There is a "Video Signal Conditioner" here for £40 but you will only get composite video quality.
