I need to know which player to buy,

either the Sony DVPS735D or the Pioneer DV-636D,

My requirements are;
has to be totally region free
DTS, DD decoder onboard
Picture Quality (Excellent)
Sound Quality (Excellent)->in transfer to AMP.

Suggestions are welcome.

I`ve just gone through exactly the same process, and decided on the Pioneer, mainly due to it better sound playback on Audio CD`s. Richer sounds is the best place if you want region free. The pioneer does`nt look as sleek as the Sony, but I`m very impressed.

I agree. Would go for the pioneer too. Also the pioneer can play VCD CDR dics and the sony cant as far as I am aware. I love my pioneer 636 player it the best one i have had so far.

Well before you buy I would check out after sales service from RICHER SOUNDS. I bought my sony gear from a small specialist shop (it was cheaper then dixons and had a full 2 years garauntee parts and labour and also is a member of BADA and blow me down it was in stock)
They are both top makes, but find a shop where they know what they are talking about and offer good after sales service.
Richer sounds could be such a shop ,but their policy with remotes just made me look else where.(they use to take them out the box and sell them seperatley also their bargains never seemed to be in stock.)

I have the Sony725 which the735 replaces and it was chipped by Link, It has played everything I have thrown at it, like the Patriot R1, with no probs so the 735 should be as good, It gives a lovely picture and good sound.

Thanks for the opinions. I am still undecided though :(

It looks as if I`m going to purchase the Sony 80cm XA WEGA FD Trinitron model number KVXA34M31.

I`m thinking that the Sony DVD player would be more suitable ie: Sony to Sony??? or doesn`t it matter too much.

Thanks,

Well I dont think it matter too much.

I never would buy a sony tv ever again after all the problems I had with my last one.
