Hello All,

I have just purchased a Pioneer DV350 Multi Region player from dvdplayers.co.uk, it is supposed to be multi region and came coded as such. After trying it on 3 different tv`s I find to my horror that it plays any Region 1 NTSC discs in Black and White, but plays region 2 fine as expected - the machine is supposed to be PAL/NTSC but doesn`t work - has anyone got any ideas cos I am stuck. I am assuming there is some problem with PAL/NTSC compatability

Please help

Andy

I think by default it is set to Auto - there is a bit in the back of the manual about switching the output between Auto/PAL/NTSC. You need to set it to PAL. It will only output PAL60 though and your TV may not be able handle 60Hz signals. If this is the case you should still be able to get colour by using an RGB scart. If your TV doesn`t have RGB input I think you are probably stuffed I`m afraid.

Hi,
I had a similiar problem at first with my 3 year old Pioneer DV626. On the back of mine their is as switch which toggles between, Auto, Pal and NTSC so was easy to rectify. I am not sure if the latest models have these switches or if it is built into the system menu somewhere, but you should be able to overcome, providing the TV`s you have tried are not an antiques.
