I have recently purchased Scary Movie R1 and put it into my 709 but there is as I like to Call "Blue Screen of Death" being that the FBI warning rubbish stays on my screen constantly.
Could any one help me beat this thing.

Leave it playing for 20 mins then you will be sent to the Menu screen (this is what I had to do with my thomson dvd player)
Or as soon as the digit 0000 goes on the screen of your player press Top Menu but you got to time it right. I found this hard to do so what I do is leave it playing for 20 mins so it goes to the menu screen while i get my coffee and snack ready
