Any thoughts on Sony Picot dvd player

Moose (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 20th November 2002, 12:20

I`m thinking of buying one of these for my parents for xmas - the size and ability to move it when they don`t want to use it are major benefits.

I also want it to be easy use and to hook up to a scart etc, as I get enough calls from them about digibox/ vhs problems already!

Any opinions gratefully received

Moose

There is no scart output and therefore no RGB with this player so the picture is not going to be as good as other players for the same price, but it depends what you need it for it may be ideal for your parents but I dare say you can get a player with a better picture and features for the same price.

Thanks - best picture quality isn`t a major priority - it will be used 90% of the time to entertain my kids when my mum looks after them.

Re the scart - if it doesn`t have one how would I connect to their tv? (I thought everything had scarts these days)

With the picot you would connect either by s-video or by composite video.
You can use a scart connecter to hook it up through the composite connection but again the picture is not going to be as good as with an RGB scart connection.
You could get a Toshiba sd 110e from richersounds for £79.95(or £99.95 multi region)
