Page 1 of Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghh my Sony DVD skipped last night !!!

Whilst settling down to watch the new Star Wars film, imagine my horror when the dvd started skipping, it happened about 3 times throughout the film, the disc was brand new and had no scratches, so I assume its a case of dust inside the machine, can you get dvd lense cleaners, are they any good ? Which one would you recommend ??

Hold your horses. It could simply be a faulty pressing - have you checked to see if the disc skips at the same place each time you play it?

Can I ask you a VERY strange question? Good.

Was the room that your DVD player is in cold?
I only ask because in the colder weather (and it gets cold up here in Scotland) one of my DVD players skips or stutters. It only happens in the colder weather and has nothing to do with the DVD`s.

What Sony model have you got???

My Sony manual says not to use any lens cleaning discs in the machine. I have an NS400.

If it`s still under warranty take it back!!

Its a DAVS300 all-in-one job. I did rewind the film back, and it didn`t skip in the same place, which made me think it was dust ? Oh, the room wasn`t cold either. What do you think about using a lense cleaner then, I dont wanna make the situation worse, and certainly dont want to invalidate my warranty.
