Help choosing DVD player required!

Hi all

What would you recommend as the best budget (as I`m pretty darned skint!) multiregion DVD player that is capable of playing RCE discs?

It has to be the Alba DVD-114: £69.99 from Argos. It`s a fantastic machine for the money and plays everything you can throw at it, including RCE discs. It also looks a lot more expensive than it really is - very sleek and sophisticated.

It`s not in the current Argos catalogue, by the way, so you`ll have to ask at the counter. Most if not all Argos stores are now stocking this model instead of the inferior DVD-108.

Could you give a bit more info about the 114, what does it look like, most importantly is it same size as the 108. Is it a Mico or another manufacturer - see the mico-electric.com website
Size is one of the main reasons I went for the 108, they dont need to be big & ugly & 99% of the players on the market fit this category. They need to seriously look at their design, seems to have gone 20 yrs backwards
The other reason for buying is multiformat compatability especially CDr for VCD & MP3. Not so bothered with 5:1 sound or hifi gimmicks, my stereo is good enough for that

I don`t agree that the 114 is a superior machine compared to the 108. The 114 is very flimsy, especially the loading door which falls off easily. The 108 is a much more solid machine made by Mico. Its smaller than the 114 which is about the same size as a Pioneer 444/454 but not the same quality of course. The same machine is being sold by Teso as the Bush 2024 at £89.99 ... ridiculous when the Aba is sitting beside it at £69.99.
