I know the pioneer dv 454 is supposed to eb a replacement for the dv 444 but does anyone know if its as good?
I`m thinking of getting a new playe rand the dv 444 had rave reviews but I`ve heard nothing about the 454 yet.
Anyone got one?

Whats the sound like/ I`ve got a pioneer dv 525 which is getting on a bit. I heard the dv 444 and the sound was far better than my 525 on exactly the same set up!

I`m hoping that this is going to be a pretty good player, as I have just bought one for my Brother and Sister-In-Law. I got theirs from Home Cinema Heaven (who were quick, and I know have been around for a while) as Multi-Region out of the box. Tried a few films at home (Die Hard Region 1, Shrek Region 4, Matrix Region 4), but was unable to hook the audio to my processor (It`s an old Prologic E492) to try DD and DTS. The Picture was great, the menu`s seem pretty straight forward, and the remote`s okay. Now I`m looking forward to the giving, and seeing how it goes with their TV! The layer change did seem quicker than my Sony 725.

One thing that was on the 444 which is not on the 454 is the picture parameter adjustment which is a git cos my tv is set over to the left on rgb! Or does it still have this feature?
How much did you pay John?

I paid £169.99 + £10 p&p from http://www.homecinemaheaven.com/index.htm if you shop around you can get it cheaper, but I wanted to use someone I knew had been modding for some time ... It should be okay with RCE disks (but I couldn`t test this as I currently don`t own any). Is it me or are manufacturers getting more cagey about putting the specifications of machines on there web sites?

Techtronics do it for £145.00 with full mod. I`m tempted now!
