Panasonic DMR-E20 Problems recording from DV through ILink

I have had problems recording from my DV camera via the ILink.
Panasonic have replaced the DVD unit, but it is still the same.
This is the letter I sent to Panasonic, and how it can be got over.

Dear Sir.
In January of this year I purchased a Panasonic DVD Video Recorder, DMR-E20. Which is connected from AV2, to a Panasonic Digital Satellite Receiver TU-DSB30, and then this connected to AV1 on my television.
I also have a Panasonic Digital video recorder, NV-DS28B.
So the idea was to transfer the digital video to DVD, via the I link connection, I put the DVD to DV, paused the video camera at the point I wish to record at, pressed the top window, Behind the top window you can see the paused picture from the video camera, and then I selected DV AUTO RECORD, the screen then goes blank, and then it puts me back to a satellite television program, and turns the video camera off.
I then got in contact with customer care centre I explained all of the above, they said they would replace the DVD Recorder, which you did in about four weeks.
On connecting up the new DVD Recorder and connecting the video camera, it worked (or did not work) exactly the same as the previous one.
I then got back in touch with customer care again, they said that the technical department would get back to me as soon as possible, eight days later a technician phoned me up to try and find out what my problem is.
I then explained in the mean time I have been trying out some different connections from the DVD to the television, which are.
With the DVD still connected to the television via the AV2 connection on the DVD, through the satellite receiver, to AV1 on the television, I then take the composite connections from No 24 on control reference guide, to AV3 on the television.
With the I link connected to the video camera and to the DVD recorder which is set on DV, the television set on AV3, the camera set on pause at the point I wish to record at, I bring up the top window, I can see the paused picture behind the top window, I then select DV AUTO RECORD and yes it will record perfectly.
This is not in the instruction manual, also the technician said he knew nothing about this as I was the only person to come across this problem, but surly I cannot be the only person to use this DVD Recorder for what it was made for?
Now you might think what is my problem as I have got the DVD to record properly, the DVD is connected twice to the television, once through the satellite to AV1 and again through AV3 on the television, I need this connection for a Panasonic NV-F70B Video recorder (I know it's old but its all I have), so it means I have to keep taking connections out, and putting them back to make them work, which is not a very good idea.
So has this problem been sorted out yet, or if not what is going to happen? I would be grateful if you would get back to me as soon as possible with an answer to this problem.

Not sure I can help, but have you tried to record from the camera without using the DV auto record? I record my camcorder footage to DVD-R, not RAM disks which means I can`t use this function (it is only available with DVD-RAM disks). I have to set the input select to DV manually and then start recording. It all seems to work fine this way.

Might be worth a try.....
