Simpsons Series 2 R1 sticks on Disk1 menu with Wharfedale 750s

Just got this excellent box set from CDWOW but disk 1 freezes once the menu loads, this is the second copy so it doesnt appear to be the DVD. Anyone else having this problem on any other players or can offer a solution.
