Another newbie question about PAL/NTSC
This has probably been asked before. I ran the search on this and found some info, but something is still unclear to me. I ran the multi region hack on my philips dvd-711 and it worked, except for the black and white thing. Now I know that you need that RGB signal supportive scart and all, but my tv only has one scart socket and I don`t know if it supports NTSC as such.(probably doesn`t) My question is that is it enough that the dvd player has the auto function and it supports it, or do I have to get a new tv ?
RE: Another newbie question about PAL/NTSC
I`m by no means an expert on this kind of stuff...
But is there an option in your DVD player setup to output in PAL?
I *think* your DVD player is outputting in NTSC and your TV can`t take it.
But like I said, I might be wrong. Try what I suggested though, maybe it`ll work.
RE: Another newbie question about PAL/NTSC
More likely the DVD player is outputting PAL 60 and the TV wants PAL(50).
NTSC uses 60Hz refresh as US mains is 60Hz.
There are more VCRs than TVs with NTSC/PAL circuitry, but it depends how new they are.
Try a PAL60 setting on your TV if your DVD does not have a NTSC/PAL option. Some NTSC/PAL coversions are crude.
NTSC uses 29.97fps and PAL uses 25fps. The Dansai DVD852 I used to have had an `on-the-fly` NTSC/PAL/AUTO button. Worked a treat.........wish I still had one.......
