Yes it can - but not using a handset hack, you need a special CD.
I have a 5095 which I got from unbeatable (good company, I`m impressed) which wasn`t multi-region as advertised.
They supplied me with a CD which claims to be for the whole 5000 series, and it worked perfectly.
Prior to that there was a posting here that referred to a link to download a file which is burnt onto a CD - probably the same file unbeatable sent to me. I couldn`t access it but you may have more luck.
It was posted by `AllanC` and said:-

I burnt the file using Nero "CD-ROM (ISO)" option and it worked without any problems.

How does the hack work? Im thinking of buying this model. Does it reprogram the firmware so you just put any disk in and go... or do you have to put the cd in every time you wanna change region?

I am delighted with my now multi-region 5095 from `Unbeatable` - it has a completely mirror front with cool blue button illumination and plays superbly with no glitches on even badly scratched discs.
On the `Hack` front - the CD is placed in the machine and it asks what region you want. You can select `0` for any region and it will then work with any disc. The benefit is that you can specify a particular region if you need to in the future by putting the disc in again.

Thats all very good, but what I really want to know is an url where I can download the image file so I can burn it onto a CD. All the links posted above don`t seem ti work, can someone please post a link that does work please.

The above URL doess work althoug it took me many attempts to download. Maybe the sites in demand..... Anyway I burn it and installed it. Tested it on region 1 Training day (non RCE) and Mothman Prophecies (supposed RCE) both fine. No side effects yet!

When the instruction says "Burn the folder `RMTM0000` to a CD-R" does it mean you should see that directory on the resulting CD, or only the "Scarlet" directory within it? I assume the former, but this is for my sister`s player, and I don`t want to burn the wrong content. Perhaps I`ve been reading technical specifications for too many years, where such ambiguities can cause problems! Thanks.
