Page 1 of Region X doesn`t work on my PS2
Hack Help Forum
I bought my PS2 just before Christmas. Tried Region X a while ago and PS2 didn`t even register that it was there when I tried `loading` it. Took it back and exchanged for another one and same story.
I was told by the guys in Gamestation (shop I bought it from) that my PS2 might be `too new`. Is this possible? If so, is there a new version of Region X coming out / already out? Or any way I can get around it?
Cheers

If you`ve had it chipped with NEO2, you might find that the multi-region DVD function stops.
However it will allow you to play those import games, and those other titles.....
RE: Region X doesn`t work on my PS2
It would appear that the guys at the shop are right, and here`s why...
When Sony were developing the PS2, they were under pressure from the DVD publishers to make the machine completely unhackable, so they spent 6 months doing just that.
When the Japanese PS2 was released, it took about a month to get hacked, using a code inputted on the joypad. As soon as Sony got wind of this, they reprogrammed the new PS2`s to ignore the code.
Likewise, as soon as the region X disc was released, Sony immediately reprogrammed all their new PS2`s to ignore the discs.
Your best bet is to wait until this new firmware gets hacked, or just buy a standalone DVD player that IS multi-region.

Cheers for the info.
I guess I`ll just have to wait for the new hack, or as you say, buy a multi-region DVD player!
Have you checked Datel`s web site? They put out periodic updates for the Region X for exactly this reason.

Hi
I bought one of the new PS2`s just before christmas, I ordered DVD Region X from an internet site, www.game.com and it works fine, I haven`t had any problems with Region X.
Trie and ordering from the above site, it may just work.
