Which players are multi-region and macro free out of the box? Also interested in a player which has both of these by a simple remote hack. I think this list will help people who want to buy a new player.

The Samsung 709 (or Thomson DTH-3300, which is more or less the same player) can be made multi-region and MV-free with a simple remote hack.
If your interest in Macrovision extends to, ahem, "backing up" DVDs to VHS tapes, the 709 supports PAL 50Hz output from NTSC DVDs, so you can tape your American discs as well as PAL ones.
It`s no longer in the shops, but it`s a good 2nd hand buy.

Thanks guys - it`s a pity that the 709 is no longer available. I`m in Ireland so the Scan doesn`t seem to be an option. I would love some more suggestions.
