Page 1 of Problem with a LG DR 389
Hack Help Forum
Hello, i`m a french (and sorry for my bad english)
In France, no site can help me.
They don`t understand what i`m want !
And LG don`t want help me too.
This is the problem :
I change the codes (OP1 , 0P2) from my LG DR 389.
( not a DRT389H) for Region Hack
But I didn`t note the initial codes before changing.
And and I made some mistakes on the codes.
Since, for examples, i can`t recieve analogique Tv,
and when i`m recordind from external tuner,
i can`t see the dvd with another player,
i can see ONLY with dr 389.
you are the only ones who could help me
With no joke, you are my last hope...
i need Factory Codes boot system (Clear / eject) for France
LG don`t want to give them to me
I hope you can give or find them.
Thanks a lot if you can do it.
I found a way to reset to factory defaults on a different LG recorder, so it may work on this one.
Turn the machine on, then press and hold the power button (on the machine, not the remote control) for 10 seconds. This should reset it. Then when you turn it back on again, it will be as it was when you first got it, and you can set it up again. If that doesn`t work, Press and hold the button for 10 seconds while it is in standby instead.
Then, the multi-region code I found for it was this one:
1) Power On
2) Open Tray
3) Press Home
4) Enter "Set up" menu
5) Highlight the Lock Picture (Don`t Enter Right hand Menu)
5) Press "0" seven times
6) You should now have a message on the screen saying "This player is now Region Free".
Let us know if this has helped.

I`d be interested to hear if this works because the OP codes on previous players could only be reset by re-inputting the correct codes.
You could go for trial and error and replace each code one at a tim (rememebring that each code has two pairs and you`d need to exhaust each pair at a time) or try and find someone with the same model recorder and ask them to display their screen and note the numbers.
Remember it may be specific not only to your region but also to your area (French machine will probably have a differing output to a UK machine etc but I`ve been out of LG stuff for a long time now so may be wrong!)
I really wish those codes had never been released. When I found the 1472 code I kept it quiet with most thinking it was because I knew how to add VCD to a 3350E but it was really due to the possibility of screwing up players... sadly there`s been hundreds since then :(
Good luck and let us know if it works! (ps: the trial and error thing... if you note the current codes you can always reset to the current condition of the player, and if you note something working as you go through it then you note that on a seperate sheet of paper... it isn`t as long winded as it seems but it does take a fair bit of time)

You could also try this thread found via Google!

I know it`s not a DRT but that`s usually a minor change in a model number, eg: an Aiwa DV370EK was gold, DK was black IIRC. the T just might mean twin tuner or freeview or similar, might even be a colour or possibly a different model but if you note the codes you currently have you cant really go much further wrong except if you disable the display output which you`d need to count button presses to reset.

OP3: 03
OP4: 60
OP5: 0e
OP6: aa
OP7: 47
OP8: 02
OP9: 0d
OPA: 00
and after :
OP1: da
OP2: 30
OP3: 03
OP4: 60
OP5: 0e
OP6: ae - 8e
OP7: 47
OP8: aa
OP9: 0d
OPA: 00
nothing... same problems.
I have found another menu " select state"
when i`m hold button "clear " on remote control and " play" on machine

I don`t know anyone in France who has a 389 Dr
but if by chance someone has one , on this forum, here is what to do:
it would be sufficient for someone to
have one, ( french setting) and wants,
with great care, going to do this (read it before you do!)
switch on,
press simultaneously
"Clear" on the remote
and "eject" on the machine
for a few seconds.
Do not touch any other button on your remote
(especially not the arrow keys)
menu on a light blue background appears
Then do not touch to anything!
there are rows with op1, op2 op3 ect ..
Note on paper the results
and of course DO NOT CHANGE it.
Once the numbers and letters are noted,
you can power off .
a big thank you in advance.
