Hi there if anyone can help ill be very grateful,
I have a samsung sv-dvd1e vcr/dvd player and when recording a region 1 disc i get a copyright message pop up on my screen and the recording automatically stops! ive been advised if i do want to record my discs ill need a macrovision remover available from (http://www.sonel.com) but i was hoping that somebody may know a way of disabling the macrovision to enable copying of DVDs?

Thats the VCD/DVD combo isnt it? You can`t play Region 1 US discs unless you get your player chipped or there is a Handset hack for it.
Even if you can play region 1 you wont be able to record to VHS because of macrovision. You will only be able to copy ones with no macrovision(eg Se7en is the only one I know of)
The sonel will not work for you, sorry
