Multi region upgrade needed for Tosh 210

David Mitchell (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 1st July 2001, 11:14

Can anyone recommend an upgrade for this player. I`ve looked at a few web sites offering upgrades for about £50 plus collection/delivery charge, but each vendor seems to sing the praises for their own kit and give dire warnings about the competition - who is worth using?

Most of the upgrades I`ve seen involve re-flashing the firmware rather than chipping, are there any disadvantages to this method other than not being able to do it yourself?

Thanks for any help.

All toshibas mods from all vendors are the same ( with the exception of Enterprise type mods) on the 210 all mods will work with RCE and the advantage of "Magic" type mods is that you have no soldering done to your player .... the "Magic" type mods are justr as good as chip based mods

Steve,

Thanks for the reply. Does your companies upgrade play RCE discs without intervention?

On Tosh 210 you have to use the swap method .. insert a true Region 1 disk to set the player to region 1 ... then you can play the RCE disk as the player will stay set to region 1 when it see`s the region codeless RCE disk
