Page 1 of RCE encoding
Hack Help Forum
Hi,
I`ve just read something about RCE encoding and I wondered what it is. Could anybody please tell me?
I also want to buy a DVD player and I don`t know which one I should take. I wanted to buy a Toshiba SD-200 E, but I`ve heard it has to be chipped (correct me if I`m wrong). Do you know a player that doesn`t need to be chipped and isn`t higher than £ 170.
Thank you,
Soong
rce-basically region code enhancement. mostly its region 1 discs which won`t play on region free players (region 0). check out the wharfedale m5- multi region n will play rce.
have a good one.
Another worthwhile player is the Samsung 511 (*not* to be confused with the Schneider 511!) which is available for well under £170 if you shop around. It`s multi-region and fully RCE compliant via the remote - no chip required.

Is the Minato G1 (on sale at Tesco) RCE compliant?
Killy, I would hazard a guess that it is, yes, as you are able to manually alter the region you`re watching via the remote hack.
The case in general seems to be if you can manually select the region you`re laughing. For people with modded or chipped players, or ones simply multiregion out of the box (eg Alba 103, Bush 2009) there may be some problems with RCE encoded disc. That`s the rule of thumb, anyway, but no doubt there are some that can prove me totally wrong (and I hope there is, too !)
Many Auto Region or chipped players can also play RCE

Also, Philips One4All hack is RCE compatible...
Tesco Minato G-1 work on region 1 and 2 see the hack on this site , I have bought 2 one last Feb`01 and one last week both work well, but a little blocky on the region 1 DVD cost was £ 109 . I`m happy !
