Page 1 of Cyber Home ADM 512 - Macrovision Hack required

Hi

I am new to all this so be gentle!. I bought the cyberhome ADM512, region free and rce compliant. I am not sure that it is macro vision disabled though. I have tried to record toy story 2 with the fade in brightness, this happens with a few other movies i have, strangely not with final destination, but with the rentals i get too, so i presume macrovision is not disabled. Is there a hack to disable it for my dvd. I accessed the hidden menu via remote using 76-Sel, but didnt see anything relating to macrovision toggle on or off. Can some one help me to disable this feature ??. Or is this a hardware fix ??

Hi there

Firstly you need to access the hidden menu. Without a disc in enter 7 -6 - enter.

Check your firmware version, if you have a region free player it should read something like A008.0-xxxx.

Click on "next page" at the bottom and that should take you onto a second page which includes macrovision. Delete any number that is against it and it should bring up a zero.

Press return to get back to the main screen.

This worked on mine which I bought a couple of days ago.

On the subject of this particular player does anyone know if this works to make it region free:

Enter secret menu press PowerOn - OpenClose - Setup - 7 - 6 - Enter
To setup Country Code at the position Country Code press: Enter - 13 - Enter (that will enable all regions and turn off Macrovision)

To turn off user operation prohibitions at the position OP Proh On press: Enter - Enter

To finish setup press: Setup - Open/Close

I Dawson thanks for the advice, i have performed the check to find that in the firmware entry i havent got a0008... instead i have an entry simply labelled "Update".
When i choose next page, there is no option for macrovision. I have been on the cyberhome web page and the facility should be there to toggle macrovision. I bought myh DVD from a company called www.mailuk.com, i think that they might have put an update to the firmware, which causes macro to not appear, i think i will have to email them about this and find out what needs to be done, but i am not keeping my hopes up, as when i bought this i bought it with Macro disabled in mind. When contacted them re macro not working they said due to a change in some law theyu have had to turn this feature off. ?.

My player has got region code as 13 and operation prohibitions at the position OP Proh is set to 1. Mine is region free, but the macrovision is enabled. What is the OP Proh setting ?, as mine is set 1, should this be set to 0 for macrovision disabling ??

I`m not familiar with this "update" firmware. It definitely sounds like something they`ve done themselves.

It`s possible to download version 8 firmware file from www.cyberhome-help.de/main_english.php4 and upgrade your machine`s firmware.

This needs to be burnt onto a CD and loaded into the machine, there`s instructions on the site on how to do this.

I had to do this with mine which was not bought region free. It works fine and I can disable macrovision.

I have no idea what the OP Proh setting relates to! On mine it`s still set to 1.

I was thinking about a firmware update. I can do this update myself, however i`m just a tad worried that if the company has put a chip in (ie hardware hack) themselves to give region free and rce compliance this would explain the word Upgrade next to firmware in the hidden menu, then the player might not work if i upgrade the firmware to the latest ver. I have sent an email to the company asking them to send details on the best way i can get this player`s macrovision disabled, if they are not allowed to do it.

To enable region select, region free and turn macrovision off you all need version 8.00 firmware, download it, burn it to cdr and update your players.

There is no performance lost going from v9 to v8 firmware.....

You will NOT do it any other way.
