does the hack for the 305e work on the regular 305. The one they are selling in Comet at the moment?

I believe that some firmware versions can be hacked from the original remote but I may be wrong ... other firmware versions can be hacked with a One For All remote .... all versions can be chipped

Steve is right - the earlier versions of the Hitachi 305 firmware could not be hacked with the original remote, whereas current ones can.

"e" isn`t part of the model number - it`s just a suffix to distinguish the European version of the 305 (305e) from the American version (305u). Any 305 you buy in this country will of course be the "e" version!

(The Hitachi 305 is a clone of the Samsung 511, by the way, so you may as well get the Samsung version if it`s cheaper!)

I bought a 305E last November - I`ve tried the remote hack but it doesn`t work (the Thompson one). I have a Universal OneForAll remote how do you hack it from that? There seems to be a problem with that too though it manages to tune in my TV, VCR, SkyDigital etc fine but it doesn`t tune my DVD player, any ideas? Please, it`s driving me mad!

305E, did the patch. how do I know if it worked. when I repeat the sequence it still says region 2 in the left corner. does this mean it didn`t work?

Press repeat 3 8 7 6 7 and 2 appears in the corner, right?

Then press 9, open/close on the front of the player and then power off on the remote!

Switch the player back on and when you press repeat 3 8 7 6 7 th should now say 9 instead of 2

I pressed REPEAT but nothing happened !
Fortunately I could enter some numbers (like chapterselections) but also nothing appeared on the screen or the dvd-screen.
IS THERE ANY INPUT MASK FOR THE NUMBER SERIES OF
38767 ??????????
...would appreciate any help...thanx in advance
*muggl*

Nothing happens when you press repeat, and you don`t see any numbets on the screen until you press the final 7, when the region number will appear in the top left corner!

Do *NOT* have a DVD in the drive at the time!

Allright...so i pressed repeat....
but then when i `ve pressed a digit on the remote, every single number i entered appeared on the top left corner (*like when you switch the tv program*)......but then it does not show me any CURRENT REGIONAL CODE NUMBER or something else....this is so frustrating..argh...

Overview: Its like that
- no dvd inside - on screen messages on
1. i powered on the player
2. it says : no DISC and I can see the "Hitachi dvd video screen" on my tv
3. i press repeat
4. i entered 3 (3 is indicated on the top left)
5. .....8..(8 is indicated ...) etc. etc. etc.
6. finalley i pushed 7 but nothing indicates my current regional code...and i do not know what the hell i am doing wrong !!
*is it the remote control ? * got the dv-rm300 ??*

I think you have the firmware which cannot be hacked with its own remote! Sorry Dude!

Here is a question: When you switch on your player does the Panel on the FRONT of your player display "Hello"?

Cheers!
