Macrovision - general point

stevea (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 13th April 2001, 13:35

Having spent a little time scratching around for a MV hack for my Philips 711 I`ve foung that there`s very little in the way of MV hacks generally.
Have owners of other DVD players also been frustrated in their search?
The only reason I want it is to do backups of DVD`s to VHS so if they become hard to get I have a copy. MV protection is hardly going to stop Pirates doing mass copies so I can`t really see the point in it.

If anyone can mail me the hack I`d be really grateful.

You cannot turn macro off on the 711....You are stuck unless you buy a m/v box thingy for around £50.

Most of the big name brands like, philips, sony, panasonic, technics e.t.c can only do multiregion forget it for macro hacks.

There may not be a hack for this, so all you can do is buy some hardware. What you need is the Video Digiview, from SCB Electronic @
0161 723 5442 or www.starman.demon.co.uk/scb/scb/index.htm for about £70. All I can say is "It aint software, but it does the business!"
