Hack Help Forum
does anyone have a macrovision hack for a liteon lvw5005 dvd recorder, i already have a region free hack that works great but i would also like a mcrovision hack if possible,
so that i can copy my protected videos to dvd.
i have noticed people keep mentioning the lead from sonel. i purchased one of their leads to copy my videos to another video and it didnt work i exchanged it 3 times and eventually purchased a different type of lead, (not from sonel) it also took me 3 months to get my money credited back to my credit card from sonel but only after i had complained to my credit card company.therefore i am not really willing to have anything to do with sonel.i know probably lots of you will reply saying how good the service has been from sonel but its a case of once bitten etc etc .if anyone can help either with a hack or a lead it would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks.

RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack
thanks for your reply sunderland i checked out that site you suggested and most of the comments on that site applied to the lvw5001 so i dont know if their hacks will work with the lvw5005, bit wary of trying them just in case i screw the machine up.picture quality is excellent on playback in my opinion as i used this machine to replace a pacific 1002 which i thought had a good playback picture too
RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack
here is another site hpe this might help glad you think picture quality is good as ive just ordered mine

thanks for that site sunderland i will download that file, but i think i will wait awhile and see if anyone else does the hack just in case it screws up machine. i bought mine mainly for transferring stuff from old videos to dvd (films that you cant get on dvd) and also because it has a connection on the front for a digital camcorder. where are you getting yours from ? as i got mine from svp for £199.99 which i thought was an excellent price considering it records on all formats. once again many thanks for your help and i hope you get your machine soon.

RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack
About to hack mine - will let you know if it works ! :/
Yes I can confirm the following hack worked on my LDW-5005B !
I have tested for 3 hour recording (which works a treat) and Iam now macrovision free - so I can now backup my pre-recorded videos to DVD!
The hack I used was as follows :
1/. download the following file :
http://www.softwareunlimited.co.uk/firmware.aspx
2/. Once downloaded, unzip
3/. Change name to LNFB2063.D00
4/. Burn to a cd in iso format in Nero. Like others I used a CD-R without any problem but I have seen that a new CD-RW should ideally used.
5/. Follow on-screen instructions (ie asks if you are sure you want to download firmware - select OK, then wait for a minute and switch off when it says)
6. When you power on again you will see the 3 hour format in the Guider, and can use macrovision free backup.
To make multi region :
1. Enter set-up screen
2. Move cursor to `Exit`
3. Using remote key 2,9,6,0
4. On pop-up menu select `Region Free`
I now have an excellant machine.
Hope this helps others. :) :D
