Recently purchased the Sony DAV SC5 home entertainment system. All iis great with however all the DVD`s my brother sends me from around the world are unplayable. So, can anyone help me with a multi region hack for the system.

Sorry can`t be done.
If you want to have a multi-region Sony you`ll either have to buy them that way.....or pay big bucks and have the internals chipped.
Most likely cheaper for you to buy a another machine that is already multi-region, or hackable.

Oh yes it can! For example, see:

Basically, you need something else with an IR port, such as a Palm/Pocket PC or a laptop, some software, and some codes to put in the software.
