Page 1 of black and white probs

i have a sony ns305 dvd player..it plays r2 discs perfectly..when playing r1 discs its playin them in black and white...how do i get to watch them in colour?
is my machine region free cos it playes r1 discs?..just not in colour!!............. or do i need a converter of some sort...any help is appreciated

I had the same problem with my Philips DVDR. All it takes is some changing of the scart leads and it works a treat. What have you got connected up to the dvd player and t.v. Is there a vcr or sky attatched?

there is nothing wrong with your player. your tv may not be ntsc compatable american standard as older sets don`t seem to be (i used to have one and my imports would play colour and my player is muti region same went for my playstation imports that was when i discovered that it was my tv so get a new one!! most modern models support the tv standard for both countries ie pal/ntsc.

I`ve got the same problam with my Pioneer DVD player- it shows "some" DVDs in Black and White, and others in colour. I believe you when you say, it`s just a matter of moving the SCART cables about- but how? Please help. Thanks!
