I have a feeling that you cannot unlock a locked player with the remote hack ... I amy be wrong but if I am not then you will need an auto region chip to reset it

Hi There,

It is possible to get everything sorted if your Philips DVD Player is locked out(As mine locked out and needed this hack for at least R1 & R2 playback). You will need an all4one remote with a DVD button and a MAGIC button on it. You will create the hack known as the RC6 hack. You can either use the info contained on this web site or read the following: -

1) Once you have the All4one remote, press DVD, then MAGIC until there are 2 flashes;
2) Key in the code 0 5 3 9(This makes the remote respond to a Philips DVD PLayer);
4) Make sure that the drive doesn`t have a DVD in and that the drive door is closed with the `No Disc` text on the display;
3) Press MAGIC and enter the code 0 8 5(This should have enabled the series of dashes to appear on the screen, you will also notice that the Philips text on the screen has now disappeared);
4) Now key in 2 2 2 2 2 2 0 0 5 2 5 5;
5) Press PLAY;
6) The Philips text should now have re-appeared and the `No Disc` message is on the display.
7) You now have a hacked Philips player playing at least R1 & R2 discs.

And region 4 too (tested)

FANTA C.........

I thought my hack did not work with your player?.........seems i was right all a long eh?......The least you could have done was to let us know...that there are NO known problems with the hack......

but i dont understand why you insist on denying that the hack is MULTI-REGION.......there are a lot of people on other forums....who have spent a long time researching this.....and we have proof.....we have tested discs from all regions and they all work.......the code itself originates directly from a Philips engineer...but if you know differently then please enlighten us.....

Also....where is your much fabled macrovision code?.....I am still busy working with the firmware and will let everyone know when i have the solution.....

You, however , informed us that your code worked and that you would require further testing....????

We are trying to go forward here...dont make the issues more complicated than they are............

OH...and steve....stop pretending that you dont know about the ONEFORALL being able to unlock region locked machines.....I told you this last October.......we dont need your chips!.......

Well Allan,

Seems we meet again! It`s been a long time and it seems your still showing off! Well mister no-it-all, how come you assumed I was talking about my DVD Player? I`ll tell you what; I`ll give you a bit of background on what happened with my player. Your method does work, but for my brothers player as I recommended the Philips player to him.

Right, I initially bought the player and used the original hacks. This of course locked out the player and to R1 with a blue background and crappy Grundig text at the bottom, when most of my DVD collection was R2 at the time. I then decided to get it chipped for £86 from Techtronincs (And I certainly wouldn`t recommend them as they took 6 days to pick it up, 5 days to `chip` it and then another 4 days in getting it back to me) Anyway, at least it worked reasonably well. The autoplay feature didn`t quite work and had to use the manual hack for some discs, I thought that having the player chipped they would at least reset the player to it`s defaults! But NO!

I then heard of this new hack (RC6), I then thought that using this would give me back the original Philips screen. I used the original remote to get the dashes to appear (which you seem to think is impossible! perhaps it had something to do with the mod chip, I don`t know!) I thought `At least I didn`t have to shell out £30 on a universal remote`. I inputted the codes I used before to interchange between R1 & R2 and then found out to my horror that the mod chip didn`t seem to be working. I had no autoplay and no manual hack apart from using the codes that I used before to change from R2 to R1 and vice versa.

I phoned Techtronics to explain that chip had ceased working, they told me that they program the chip to work with settings stored on the eeprom and they are changed when doing the remote hack. That is why the chip had stopped working, they then asked me to pay £45 for them to redo the player. There was no way I was doing that when the two costs would have just about added up to the value of the player.

I then saw the 2 2 2........ code which allowed it to play at least R1 & R2 (other regions hadn`t been tried at the time!) without changing from 1 to the other. So I used the code (without a universal remote) and I have had trouble free operation since, apart from 1 disc(see below).

So, I suppose thanks are in order for the work you have done for the Philips player. OK, you sound as if you probably know your stuff and I would say that I certainly know a little as I am an electronics and telecommunications engineer. I have been working on hacks for DVD players now for about 8 months. I figured out the hack for the Wharfedale 750s before anyone else did (not proven, you`ll have to trust me on that one) but my method uses one less button than explained on this web site and others. I am also close to a Macro hack for this as well. Although it is has been made harder since I got rid of my Wharfy for not playing discs very well.

I am also furthering my efforts into the Macro hack for the Philips, good luck for the person that figures it out first. Also, I am very close to an all new, easy to do hack for the SAMSUNG players (with the original remote)

P.S. Maybe you can shed some light on the mod chip problem!
P.P.S My player doesn`t seem to be multi-region, I have a `David Blaine` DVD that is R0, this will not work on my Philips 710, can you figure that out?
P.P.P.S Do you think I should write a book? ^lol^

Hello.......

Look..don`t take it to heart......I dont have anything personal against you.........but i`m certainly not showing off......I just like to share my knowledge and help people enjoy their Philips DVD`s to the full.....

believe me...I can go much deeper than the stuff that is discussed in this forum.....try going to the the Datatestlab forum to really get bogged down with details.....i`m currently working with three or four people to map out the complete code entry numbers and their meanings........

Now..as for your machine....we could have solved this in the beginning if you had told me that your 710 had been chipped.....I know from e-mails that i have received, that Techtronics chips are a big problem.....THIS is the direct reason as to why you had problems with the hacks......by the way...were you able to get your machine back to the Philips logo?........

use this code to return it to the default.....

054 000000000

as for the region 0 disc....i have had no problem playing my colection of porn discs..which are region 0 (ooops...was that too honest of me?..hahahah)....so again...i suspect the chip..or it could just be the old David Blaine magic?!!!.....

if you have any more questions feel free to ask......I do have a macrovision code for really old firmware by the way...your welcome to try messing around with it....
