Please help with both of my dvd players

melmike (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 6th November 2003, 21:24

I bought a Matsui 14TVDR1 combination dvd and video tv, why I hear you ask. I don`t know, but I`m hoping others have made the same dumb choice. I can`t find a multi- region hack anywhere. So I gave up and bought a Toshiba SD-330ESB. Guess what? I can`t find a hack for that either. Am I just thick or are there no remote hacks for these dvd players?

Be advised this is done at your own risk.

Good luck.

For the Tosh find a friendly small retailer who has the engineering disc. (Amazon does these players region free for about £80). As for the other ... the God of DVD will punish you onto the fourth generation.

Strikes me this could turn into the 21st Century equivalent of the "putting the cart before the horse" or "shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted" - buying the player before finding the hack

Hope you find the hacks you need. You could try some of the hacks for other machines of the same make.

I`ll assume that last comment wasn`t aimed at me because I`ve been doing some of the basic searching around the net for you.

There`s another source for the Tosh firmware upgrade at http://uk.geocities.com/darrenc1973/site/firmware.htm although he charges a tenner via Paypal for a ready-burned disc. I`d frankly go with the Tiscali.fr one and burn the firmware to a CD myself.

Matsui standalones tend to be variations on three handset hacks. You could try them all:
Most models: Open, 1,6,7,Mute
Matsui 120: Hold Stop on machine, press Open/Close and select from menu
Matsui 225: Open, 3,4,9,7,3,4,0
