I`ve recently bought a Panasonic DVD-LS5 portable DVD player from Costco but it only plays region 2 - I have looked all over but can`t find a hack for it.... it seems as if it is too new? Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thank you very much in advance.

Paul - Have you had any joy with this yet. I recently bought an LS5 in America - it only plays region 1 ! I`m desperate to see if there is a hack available. Worse still mine does not appear to play PAL discs, only NTSC. Any ideas !!!!

You needed to buy this player as a multi region player in the first place, alternativeley you could get in touch with someone like www.multiregionmagic.co.uk who may be able to chip it for you.

This is the reply I had back from Techtronics (www.techtronics.com)

Hi, the mod for the ls5 is not disc based. We would need the players sending to us for modification. To arrange this please call 0870 100 590 and select upgrades from the menu.

You can go directly to Techtronics page for the player at: www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-panasonic-dvd-ls5-multi-region-dvd-recorder.html

Hope this helps all those of you with an LS5 wanting multi-region!

Good Luck. :)

It is possible to convert the ls5 to multiregion playback by entering a code into the unit - I had mine done at the panasonic centre where I bought the unit - they normaly charge £20 for the privelage - they wouldn`t tell me what the code is and I haven`t found it anywhere else on the net - my suggestion is find your local Panasonic Centre and ask if they will do the modification for you.
