Page 1 of MINATO G-1?
Hack Help Forum
DOES ANYBODY KNOW YET IF YOU CAN HACK THIS MODEL? IF SO HOW I HAVE NOT YET RECIEVED CONFIRMATION EITHER WAY, IF SOMEONE COULD BE OF HELP LET ME KNOW. THANX!!
I`ve just read and tried the following on my minato.
open the tray enter 0111 and then enter the number
of the region you want. I don`t have any discs at the
moment to tell if it works but this number combination certainly
appears to do something different to other sequences.
Can you confirm this if you try it.
UNFORTUNATELY I DONT HAVE ANY DISCS AT THE MOMENT BUT AS SOON AS I GET HOLD OF THEM I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!
Reason41 you are a star and I love ya!!!!
Just tried the 0111 hack and it works spot on. The down side is that you have to do it everytime you swap regions as I haven`t found a region free code yet (I`ve tried `0` and it doesn`t work) but (call me weird) I`ve just a go at the Rock Horror Show (region 1) and it was fine.
Thanks again, you`re a life saver!!!

All part of the service.
I`ve just taken my week old Minato back to Tesco and swapped it.
I was getting a crackle similar to what you get on vinyl which was more
noticeable in quiter parts of the soundtrack this was both on the
scart output and the audio outputs. They swapped it no hassle
and the new one`s fine.
Just to check...
The Minato seems fine with Second Gen discs yes?
RE: MINATO G-1?
When chipped with the auto and macro disable chip the player can play RCE encoded disks like "The Patriot" ... I can only assume that it will also play them with the hack

Just one observation. Once you do the Region hack, you do know that R1 disks don`t decode at the correct frame rate unless you switch the player to output NTSC? (kinda assumes you have an NTSC or dual mode tv)
Considering how MPEG is coded and decoded I have no idea why this is the case (other than a cheap player design), but when I played Romeo Must Die (R1) I noticed that there was frame stutter until I flipped the player into NTSC. It was as if 30fps was being generated by the player and then random frames were being dropped to achieve 25fps. I thought the player just couldn`t cope with certain DVDs until I changed output mode.
RE: MINATO G-1?
You can use PAL60 output and then unless you TV is a complete heap of Sh1* you will be fine .... I agree that the PAL50 output is a bit crappy to say the least ...

Good point. As PAL60 is the same FPS as NTSC.
