inexpensive dvd player that can be hacked for region 1 & region 2 dvd disks?

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive dvd player that be hacked so that dvd disks from both the UK and the United States can be played in NTSC or PAL format?
I already have a Samsung VHS player/recorder that can accept PAL or NTSC formats. All replies welcomed!

If you`re saying what I think you`re saying, then you`ll need a DVD player with a MACROVISION option to watch DVDs thru your VHS and record them onto your VHS. It`s illegal to copy copyrighted DVDs for any other reason than backup. Macrovision is a system present on prerecorded VHSs and DVDs whereby the picture fluctuates in contrast to thwart VHS copying
I use a Limit DVD8070 which has both multi region and Macrovision hacks (see Multi Region Hacks on this site), works very well.

Actually, it`s illegal to do that too ;-)

As the original poster is in the US, I doubt he`ll have access to a Richer Sounds store. He could try Apex, Sampo or Malata brands - cheap and cheerful and mostly region and MV hackable players - try the forums atwww.nerd-out.com

Cyberhome 512 is a hackable player via software downgrade (region and MV) or a macrovision buster scart lead?

you can purchase the cyberhome 400 at any branch of wh smiths for £49.99, there give you the instructions to make it multiregion when you purchase it, when you enter the hack, you also make it macro free, although trying to copy warner, cbs fox, you will still have a copy protection enabled, i think it is because they discs carry the cmgs protection system. or you can purchase a macro master pro scart from www.sonel.com for £19.99 + £3.00 postage and packing, which enables you to copy any disc, hope this helps you out ;)

And don`t forget, living in the US means anything that circumvents Macrovision or Region Coding contravenes the DMCA and will attract the unwanted attentions of the MPAA, the RIAA (possibly), the FBI and possibly the Coastguard. Okay, maybe not the Coastguard, but US Customs`ll rat you up to the Feds if they find you importing any copying electronics.
