Have you thought about ordering a 709 Firmware EEPROM chip from Spit (See www.709online.com), applying the Hack, and then either keep the chip in place if you like it, or replace your Hitachi firmware, because the Hack will still be intact as it is stored in a different EEPROM!
Could be a workaround!

They are totally different, it will not work... I am waiting for Mike G to make a copy of hackable205 firmware... :-)
