Page 1 of Help needed Goodmans 2100B

I`ve just recently purchased this dvd player, a Goodmans 2100B but cannot find anything about this player anywhere is this a multi-region player or is there a hack for this player - ive tried some other goodmans hacks but these didnt work.

Can anyone help ??

should I take this player back. and get another one maybe a Toshiba SD-125E or Panasonic DVDRV32EBS

or can anyone help me out with this one that I`ve got. does anyone know who makes Goodmans is it Alba or Comet`s own brand or something....please help....

Alba PLC as far as I am aware dont physically manufacture anything, they mostly import and rebadge. Alba, Bush and Goodmans are just many of the brandnames owned by Alba PLC. Most of their DVD manufacturers are Chinese eg Alba 108 & Bush 2023 come from Mico. Alba 114 appears to be same origin as Mitsubishi Black Diamond DVD(Mitsubishi`s cheap brand) also most likely made in a Chinese factory.
Take a look at www.micoelectric.com & see if your Goodmans DVD is same as one of the models shown, then you will know if it is a Mico model. Just like cars it`s hard to specify a manufacturer when all the parts come from different places and they are assembled in some huge industrial complex in GuangDong province for an order and stamped with whatever the brand name is stipulated in the contract.

thanks for the reply. I`ve had a look on mico electric`s website but cannot see my goodmans dvd player. There must be a hack for this player - if anyone knows or can help me I will be most grateful.

There`s a rumour going around that this unit is identical to the proline 2100. However, since the dealers don`t put pics online (at least not where I can ifnd them) and since not a single owner who reads usenet also owns a digicam, it`s hard to be sure.

You could of course visit http://www.xs4all.nl/~wijnands/proline/ and tell if that goodmans does look like the proline.

Just to let you know its the same as the proline 2100, and the info on the site just brings up the version information no way to change regions :( so its just a case of keep looking or wait for a firmware upgrade, hope this comes soon.
