Do you know if this player is compatible with DVD+R and DVD+RW?

It does say DVD-RW on the box but I`m not sure abourt the + format.

Just to let everyone know this machine does just about play anything, but, unfortunately it does not play DVD+RW.

It does play a DVD+R disc once it has been finalised.

I followed the remote hack and was able to get it to play vcds
but some of them play in black and white, why.

Sorry for being so thick but...

1. Will this (or any other dvd player) work if you have a tv with no scart socket?

2. What exactly are the input and output sockets on this machine?

3. Can I play back sound through a hi-fi system and if so, how?

4. Does it have DTS and/or 5.1 surround sound? What equipment do I need to have playback in these formats?

5. Is it possible to hook the dvd player up with a vhs video recorder and
a) still playback dvds/vhs tapes through the tv?
b) record dvds onto vhs tapes?

6. Does this machine have a problem playing vcds copied onto on any cdrs or is it fussy about certain file types/brands of cdr?

7. Having read all the posts, I`m (still) a little unsure of this player plays vcds out of the box or if you need to input the hacks to enable it to play them?

8. Will it play svcds? What are these exactly?!

Again, apologies for the idiot-type questions but any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who reply.

I tried to play vcds films i downloaded from web and it wont play them
it says wrong disk but the ones that were bought from malaysia
play fine the box comes with Scart lead and Audio leads and the hack
works fine just played a region 1 film and it worked also the reason my films played B + W was i had to set it to PAL and they work fine now
This has all leads to use if you have no scart socket on TV
i have my dvd and video connected through a scart splitter as i have only 1 scart socket on TV
