Let me know if you get an answer. I just got a 220e last saturday. Very pleased so far but need to be able to play R1 without MV.

I think toshes need to be chipped.
Jesus guys why dont you find out if the player can be hacked before you buy it?
RE: does anyone know any hacks for the toshiba sd220e
From the top of this Forum :
"Also Sonys, Panasonics, most JVCs, Toshibas cannot be hacked via the remote. A chipping company (and therefore payment of a fee) is necessary."
I agree with Dukey :-)
You can, of course, buy multiregion versions of the 220 from places like Richer Sounds and even Unbeatable for not unsilly money : can you not return them to your vendor and buy a chipped one instead ?

The Tosh SD220E can be multiregioned using a cd-r, Panasonic & Sony, can be remote hacked using a remote from the likes of Electro Centre, (not cheap if it is a one off) but if you know a few people with these machines, just club together and share the expense.

Not of paramount importance but hey if I can get something for nothing well hey ......
Whats the sort of going rate for chipping. I know we have a local store who can do it.

I bought the disk that does the job a couple of weeks ago, it cost me a fiver including P&P. Worked a treat and only took 10 seconds to do. My player plays any region disk i care to put in it.

Thanks for the info guys - I`m new to DVD - but OK with PC`s. Any idea where to get the CD-R for the Tosh in question? Or are you saying that you can download the file(s) burn it and do it that way??

Hi Dave,
The files that are needed are 2.15 mb split over 6 folders. so yes they could be sent over the net and a disk burnt (assuming you have a cdr)
Ther is however a charge of £3 for files send via the net or £5 for the the disk to be sent via the post to you.

Hi,
Thanks for coming back. That would be fine - how or where do I get them from?
Thanks for your help.
