Page 1 of what do i need for remote control hack on my philips?????????????

could someone please tell me what i need to channge my philips 711dvd
ive got the instructions but i cant understand (i know thick bastard )
do i need a seperate controller or wot i just dont know please help me in easy to understand terms thanx

Hi,

It`s pretty easy really. If you haven`t locked out your DVD player then you can use your DVD`s remote control using the method below(If you have locked out your DVD player then post another message and I`ll explain the universal remote trick)

1) Turn on your player without any disc in the tray;
2) Press PLAY;
3) Now press 2 7 4 or 1 5 9;
4) A series of dashes should appear on the DVD`s display;
5) Now input the code 2 2 2 2 2 2 0 0 5 2 5 5;
6) The display on the DVD player should return to the `No Disc` message;
7) It is now either region 1 & 2 playable or fully multi-region playable.

I`ve just already tried this...but the display didn`t return the `no disc` message...the players blocked and i had to reset it....
do you think i should install the 7.03 firmware?....i have read that it should not have the dts compatibility...and then how can i come back to the original firmware?...

If the hack shown in this thread works, why use the One-for-all hack? this seems much easier.

Also-is there a risk of locking up my player altogether if I try it and it doesn`t work?

OK,

The hack which I have used above will work if your player hasn`t been locked out.

NOTE: - Using the original remote to make the hack work will still use the 25 times counter, if you continuously use the hack it will lock out your DVD player. You shouldn`t need to keep using it as it will work after the first attempt and you shouldn`t need to do the hack anymore!

The hack will make your player either multi-region or at least region 1 & 2, which is all we really care about anyway! If your player is locked out then you will have to buy the All4One 6 universal remote or a similar remote that allows access to a DVD player(The Philips in this case). To make the remote work with a Philips DVD player, do the following: -

1) Turn on your player;
2) Press the DVD button;
3) Now press the MAGIC button until the DVD button flashes twice;
4) Input the code 0 5 3 9;
5) The DVD button will flash twice again;
6) To make sure the remote works, turn off the player with the standby button on the remote.

After doing this do the following to display the dashes on the Philips DVD display: -

1) Press the MAGIC button;
2) Input the code 0 8 5 (This is known as the RC6 method)
3) Now input the code 2 2 2 2 2 2 0 0 5 2 5 5;
4) The DVD display will display the `No Disc` message.

You can now at least play region 1 & 2 discs including RCE discs.

That clears that up, I was getting a little confused about the lock-out thing, especially as it seemed you only have to do this once. Just to check, will it work with firmware 7.03?

It should in theory work for all firmwares and all Philips DVD players.

Ah bugger,

The hack using the Phillips remote only doesn`t work on my 711, firmware 7.03. Looks like I`ll have to go for the RC6 method after all. Pessimistic soul that I am, I doubt that`ll work either.

does the hack work with the patriot?

I just by a Philips 750 DVD player.

Can i Hack this player with the philips remote following your intructions without locking my player after 20 times.

Someone say that i need a special remote"One For All" to unlock it forever
