Page 1 of Can I sell my ITV digibox?
General Forum
I know that they have gone bust, but my years subscription with them recently ran out, and I had arranged for them to come and pick the box up yesterday (Saturday 25 May).
I had to wait in all day, but obviously nobody turned up.
I have NTL now so I have no need for the box, but if another company takes them over, I do not want them chasing me about the box. I also do not want an unused piece of equipment cluttering up my house.
What should I do, any suggestions.
I`ve seen them going for about £50 on Ebay at the moment, but can I sell it or not?
Cheers
Mathew
I don`t know the exact answer but, the boxes from on-digital/ ITV digital were on loan to the people who used them, unless you bought one outright. I`m sure the boxes belong to ITV digital or the administrator`s, but if you don`t want it in your house can you take it back to the shop you bought it from, I know in the past the shops took them back.
I think it`s the case that if yours was a pre-pay box, it`s yours to sell. If, like me, you were "renting" it, technically you cannot sell it.
Incidentally, were you aware the administrators sold NTL our details before itv Digital went down the pan ? Expect a phone call/doorstep salesman any day now.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire in my opinion....
It was a prepay box, with a years subscription, which ran out recently. I had arranged for them to pick it up, but no-one turned up.
But what is the deal, is any6one going to take over, and start recleiming boxes etc?
Or is the coming down the pan for good?
Also the fact that I had to wait in, and lose a possible days pay because of it!
It`s very unlikely that they will visit all 1.2 million homes to reclaim the boxes, whether pre-paid or not.
As for the itv Digital licence, that`s still ongoing : apparently if you do an "add channels" to your digibox, you`ll see some test transmissions from one of the big hitters : the BBC !!! Test channels seem to include a BBC Sports channel ?!?!?!
Watch this space.
Personally, I`d hang on to the box for the time being, anyway.
RE: Can I sell my ITV digibox?
l got the same deal. l pre-paid for a year, which ran out in February, but l was never cut off and it kept pn running. l still had E4 until Friday without them charging me 1p for it. No wonder they went bust.
Since you did not buy it from they, lt is not yours to sell as has been said. l really cannot see ITV digital paying people to collect 1 million plus digi boxes from their customers. How much would THAT cost?
on the pre-pay boxes, you only were paying for the programming. The box was still on loan. I believe any new people taking over from ITV digital will want to encourage people to keep the boxes as they are in place & try & sell a new card. Could be wrong though.
