Page 1 of Digital camera very slow taking pics??

Hi Guys, I got a Sony DCP8 quite old digi camera and its soo slow taking pics, when i press to take a pic its like 2 seconds before it decides to do anything!! Why is this??

Is it the camera or the card??

has it always been slow like this ?? alot of older cams had lag taking a pic which the newer cams dont seem to suffer from.

Have you tried another card in it just to make sure?

As mentioned above, older Digital Cameras do suffer from shutter lag. I remember I had a Fuji S3000 and the shutter would always take about 12 seconds before it would take a picture.
When taking a picture, how quick it it to focus? If theres not a lot of difference between the contrast of the background and your subject, some cameras do get confused as to what to focus on.
Newer cameras have less shutter lag and features such as face detection.
In terms of speed, you`ll find that an SLR will be faster than a compact camera, but it all depends on what you want out of your camera. Try playing with your camera in differnt lighting situations and see how the shutter speed is then.

cheers, its not so much the shutter speed altho its crap its after i have taken a pic the screen goes blank, then after about 2/3 seconds it comes on again ready for the next picture. sooo frustrating if your shooting something where there is a lot going on!!
