RE: vanilla sky am i losing it or did anyone else get lost
Took the wife to see it last night as she thought it was a romance flick (ugh!) and I it would have thriller edge to it. OH BOY were we wrong!!
This is a MUST SEE film!
There is NO film like it, made by Hollywood. None. Nothing!
Its very difficult to describe the film without giving everything away, but dont judge it by the trailer because the trailer is a red herring!
This film will either hit or miss with you, but it should be seen. Critics either love or hate it.
Vanilla Sky is unique, and should not be missed!

My student housemates and I went to see it last night. 2 of us loved it, one of us liked it, and one of us thought it was the worst film ever made.
Like thade said, you either love it or hate it. you get it, or you dont!
Persevere, watch the whole film, and in the last half hour, all will become clear.
If you still don`t get it, then theres something wrong with you!
(whens the dvd release?)

This is neither the worst film ever made or a particularly good one, it certainly isn`t a masterpeice in virtue of its indulgent psuedo-mind-f***ery; it is however a watchable flick with sub-par performances but stylish direction and great music. It is a disapointing "cover version" (to use Crowe`s words) of `Open Your Eyes` which delivered its themes of narcissism and dislocation in a far more coherant and vivid manner, perhaps because Armenabar is a far more refined director at sparse thriller mechanics than Crowe who, is slightly out of his depth in such `dark` territory. The trailer, which I find utterly wonderful, is more spellbinding than the resulting film which is overlong and suprisingly contrived. However I fail to see how the film is confusing, since every element is explained to a reasonable degree in the finale.
Still, if you feel the prospect of this film is confusing, choose `Mulholland Drive` instead and be treated to a brain-teaser of greater significance.
