Does the Queen pay for road tax?
Just watched the bunch of them turn up to church this morning - the motor she was in wasn`t displaying its tax disc. Does she not have to pay like us mere plebs?
Or can I report her to my local fuzz?
PS. Merry Xmas
RE: Does the Queen pay for road tax?
Might be wrong here, as usual :D , but I believe the king/queen are the only British citizens who are not liable for road tax on any of their vehicles.

What would be the point? The royal family are fully funded by taxpayers, so charging them for road tax (and thus incurring the extra admin charges associated with it) would be pointless.

No one pays for ROAD tax anymore....
However, all of us who have a vehicle now pay our VEHICLE tax every year as required...
(or us legal ones do ;-) )
Before anyone shoots me down, check your next renewal or even the media ads, it`s a "Car Tax" a "Bike Tax" or a "Vehicle Tax" nowadays... a wee sneaky one they pulled a few years back which I assume means they no longer had to use any of it for the supposed reasons of repairing the raod... although I am happy to be corrected on that part!

It`s still a road tax, technically. As if the vehicle is declared off the road (ie. SORN) then you are excempt...thus you only pay the tax if you use the road.
It`s true that it`s not strictly called road tax though.

As a Civil Servant, so am I. Does that mean that I shouldn`t pay road tax either. Just think of all those extra admin charges for my income tax, what a waste...

The difference being that it`s only your wages for that specific employment paid by taxpayers. The royals are funded in their entirety by taxpayers.
Although, after saying all this, I`ve come across this on the official Royal website (www.royal.gov.uk):
"Despite their special form and purpose, in many ways Royal cars are just like any others. They are liable to the Congestion Charge, payable by all cars which drive within central London. They need road tax, regular MOTs and insurance. They must follow all the rules of the road. And even a special police escort can`t prevent The Queen`s car being held up in traffic from time to time."
So who knows?

When I look at other countries and think of the Blairs the Royal Family do not seem a bad thing and the Queen works hard for this country, why people want to destroy are history and traditions is beyond me. :(
