Help with UV fluorescent tube prob.

shokat (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 2nd December 2008, 21:48

Hi
I`m sorry but need some advice on a bit of a stupid question. The UV fluorescent tube in my bug zapper died, so I need a replacement.
The original tube part number is a F4T5/BL which is a 4 Watt and 6" long fluorescent tube with a T5 fitting on the ends.
When it is on, it shines a blue light but when it is off it just looks like a normal white fluorescent tube.

The nearest mach I could find is one from Maplin item code CR48C and is model number F4T5/BLB , but this tube is coloured blue even when it is off.

My question is would this be a save substantiate for my original and would the bug zapper work with this in it.

Any help would be most appreciated, Thanks.

:B The tubes in thos bug zappers are usually ultra violet lamps which lures the unsuspecting bug to its early demise

The one you may have been offered was most likely whats called a "black lamp" which has filtered uv, looks blue/black when off, and gives that cool effect you used to get in discos in the 70`s that showed your dandruff, bra straps and false dentures to the world as glowing monuments on the dancefloor...

Try here:

£4.10p....... :B
