Page 1 of Best DVD picture ever?
General Forum
Watching Shrek last night, and my missus suddenly commented half way through, `...christ, it looks like you could jump into the picture...`.
This got me trawling through the entire collection after it had finished.
My fave so far? Toy Story 2-just about the most perfect image ever
Moulin Rouge comes a close second..

The best by far still has to be T2 Ultimate Edition. The picture is just so crisp even though its 10 years old. Star Wars and Die Hard Collection come very close but no cigar. T2 still does it for me. BTW have yet to see moulin rouge
Larry of Arabia - nearly 40 years old this film, but the desert landscapes are stunningly real. Awesomely clean print...
R1 Gone in 60 seconds
"The Rock - Criterion" is pretty good........watched it last night.
Westy.........you are at a bit of an unfair advantage for picture quality though......seeing as you can get a progressive scan picture on your Pioneer 737.

My Pioneer has been gone since xmas, got myself a beautiful new Sony NSDVP900 DVD/SACD Player. Was a little cagey as to whether it would be worth the swap. Why did i worry, what a sensation. And those SACD`s-cooooorrrr!

Agree, Shrek picture is sensational, but maybe it`s cos of the detail & the fact that I have seen it soooo many times, but Toy Story 2 still, for me has the best picture quality.Have also been impressed with some EIV titles as well though, Final Destination & Blade springs to mind.
Haven`t seen Moulin Rouge yet though!
Good post BTW.
Lets slip a quickie into my own thread;
Austin Powers-The Spy Who Shagged Me, absolutely gorgeous. So pristine it makes your eyes water...
My top five:
R1 Valentine (average film though)
R1: Toy Story 2
R4: Moulin Rouge
R2: Message From Holly (TV movie)
R1: Shrek
Though I have to say IMO that R1: T2 hasn`t got the best picture around, there is some dirt and edge enhancement in a few scenes.

To make you all jealous, EVERY DVD I watch is FANTASTIC, ive only got a hacked philips DV710 player but am lucky enough to own a Panasonic TX42PT10 42" Rear Proj Widescreen TV with its own built in progressive scan mode on NTSC discs & although my amp isnt the newest (Pioneer VSX-808RDS) it still sounds fantastic through my 7 Sony speakers & Eltax sub.
Damn, my house is a cinema !! lucky its detached !!
Lee :)
Lee, perhaps your DVD player isn`t capable of showing up the dodgy encoding on your DVDs. Might be time for you to get something decent!
