Page 1 of minimum wage

one of my sons has just started a part time job so that he can raise extra cash as he is in college. he is 23 years old and he will be working on sunday`s 9.30 to 5.30 on sundays for a well known high st newsagents.. his pay is £5.52 per hour. my big worry is that if the conservative`s get in at that next election they are going to end the minimum wage and let employer`s pay what they want to their employee`s let`s hope they don`t win other wise millions of workers might have to take a paycut to stay in employment..

Gordon Brown`s mis-management of the economy means that we are all already suffering an effective pay cut.

Almost anything has to be better than the lost and aimless current government.

That was a party political broadcast on behalf of the Labour party or was it the Lib-Dems?

iam not standing up for labour, i just want to see that all workers are paid a decent living wage instead of the "iam alright sod anybody else" i have a good memory of what happend in the 80s i voted for thatcher in 79 then i saw inflation of 22 percent and interest rate of 18 percent and 1000`s of decent hard working people lose their homes either by losing their jobs or by the high interest rates at that time......

I think it was Churchill who said something along the lines of

"Without a minimum wage the good employer is undercut by the bad who is undercut by the worst"

It`s 2008 for God`s sake. Give me my jetpack, and give me my x-ray goggles. This future is rubbish.

The tories dumping minimum wage is about as likely as Boris dumping the congestion charge, I wouldn`t worry yourself about it.
