I know some of you out there are not going to like this … but in this months DVD Buyer this is what it says…..

That was from DVD Review about 2 months ago, the review has already been mentioned, It stated the 505 had lovely colours etc but on curved surfaces it was very jaggy!

And I replied at the time I have never seen these so called jaggy edges and I bet other owners of the 505 have not either!

I bet those people at DVD Review where outputting there R2 PALS as NTSC:P

Dear o Dear Ironduke seems to have spat the dummy… was I having a go at you ..Mmmm who is the one that always going on about how great the 505 is then gets all upset when facts point out how crap it really is. Then you try and attack my Pioneer 626D yet with NO FACTS that can be shown, other than A RELIABLE SOURCE.
The same Magazine gives the Pioneer 626D 10 out 10 for Picture , and no problem with the RCE either ( software upgrades not required , as with poor Hitashit 505)
IRONDUKE cant come up with any facts about PIONEER 626D so makes up is own, perhaps having never had a good DVD player he only thinks his Hitachi is the best.
( compared to vhs .. maybe it is )
At the end of the day, it don’t matter how many features your player has, what really counts is how good the picture and sound are, Hitachi 505 Picture 4/10 Pioneer 626d 10/10.

Now now youse two - ayeayeayeayeaye (in an Enfield Scouse git stylee).

Firstly, the review mentioned is just one review out of millions out there. Secondly, the reviewer in question probably had the luxury of a totally swinging set up system, i.e. tip-top top of the range wiv all the nobs on.
Thirdly, the reviewer`s marking system is totally subjective and NOT fact !
Fourthly, you are both entitled to believe your player is the best, because you`ve both forked out the reddies for it.
Fifthly, you are both very happy with your respective players on your respective set-ups.
Sixthly, reviewers talk pants and we all know it, e.g What Video & TV recently slagged off both the Yamaha DSPA5 and the Sony 940, which most of us recognise as top quality AV amps.

If you`re both happy, put up or shut up...This isn`t the bleedin` playground after all. And besides, it`s my ball and if you lot don`t make friends I`m going home for my tea...(dairylea on toast if you`re interested)...

now consider yourselves told!

Clayts the argument I have made in another thread was simply if you read between the lines, was this a post in good faith to inform and enlighten the public(we discusseds this over a month ago) or simply an attack on me (which it is).

Duke, I consider myself to be more of a George Clooney than a Keanu Reeves any day of the week. (That`s a film-related joke by the way...)

Only problem is no girlies have ever fainted near by so I`ve been unable to try out my mouth-to-mouth, he thought saliciously....

I was expressing my opinion that in the grand scheme of things it really doesn`t matter whose is bigger and better than anyone`s elses. Let`s face it, we`re here on this forum because we ALL love DVD, pure and simple.

Personal slanging matches do little more than prove that we live in a consumerist society hell-bent on ensuring we all `Keep up with the Jones` and hanker after big twelve bedroomed detached houses with en suite facilities, two point four kids, a dog named Charlie and a Volvo S40...each. Oh, and a funky DVD player of course.
