Trying to pack as lightly as possible...

So, will I need (smart) shoes? I only ask, because I was planning on only taking trainers out there. But I didn`t know if some bars/restaurants might demand it you see.

Shall I pack them or not?

Just trying to keep the weight down, on the off-chance our tour operator won`t let us have more than 23kg per person (as we`ve been told conflicting things). Anything which we don`t need, isn`t going with us.

Probably not in relation to this thread but the missus and I went to Puerto Pollensa , Majorca last October and I never bothered to take pants and shoes...as I thought the hotel rules would be relaxed in this. After all , you don`t wear long legging`s in a hot country...even in October (which constantly reached over 30C all week). Well , the first night we stayed there we went down for our meal in the hotels restaurant only to be told by some greasy spanish jobsworth who greeted us in through the door that you had to wear pants to be admitted inside!? He stated that as it was our first night he would make an exception but told me to buy some pants for the next night!??! Cue frantic searching round the local market the following day amongst the rest of the Majorcan tat! >:(

As has been stated here maybe you could buy a cheap pair when your there and then discard them at the end of the holiday. It`s better than having to pay an excess weight charge at the airport. Thats if you manage to get through terminal 5!! :p

when i was in miami i only needed to wear shoes once, and that was in a really posh restaurant,,florida - depending on where you are, i suppose, is a proper holiday, tourist, spot, its bound to be pretty relaxed..
if you wanna get dressed up to go out, take em.. if you dont, f*** em.

Cheers Andy and Whoot. Typically, I try not to wear shoes, and I guess if I`m on my feet in a theme park all day I don`t want to slap on a pair of hard as nail shoes which will make my feet bleed.

Trainers all the way then. Oh and whoot, any extra special sneakers I should try getting my hands on while I`m there? ;)
