I had a similar problem recently, knocked up a chip reader & read the contents of the security chip, then extracted the security code from that.

I realise that it`s not much help to you at this time.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

I hate answering the phone at work - It disturbs my sleep.

A local car hifi specialist (not halfords) will be able to recode it for you, we used to charge £25 to do it. takes no more that 10 minutes.

All the best

Gerald.

Check all the manuals that came with the car. One for an old Rover of mine was written on the back of the original salesman`s business card.
I had a Cavalier that was a company car at some point and the code was the number of the number plate if you see what I mean.

Hope this helps.

If you have service book look for a 4 digit number scribbled in the bottom left corner of the initial car info page. This wont appear to be anything but could be radio code. At one point it was unofficial rule of dealerships. Made it easy for them to "get a new code" if customer lost theirs

Ford used to put stickers on the underneath of the ashtray with the code. Not much help for you but in two years time when you`ve bought a Mondeo and do the same thing, you can thank me then ;)
