Wharfedale hack - problems??

kevan deb (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 26th April 2000, 19:15

Having managed to get hold of a Wharfedale 750, and used the hack from the list, it is now happy to play R1 discs - great. Three friends also got the machines and have all now found a problem but so far affecting only one disc - the R1 version of Arlington Road.
It plays the movie fine, but when you try and play the additional features (very sadly all missing from the R2 release - yet again!!!) it displays a lock symbol and reverts to the generic DVD opening screen.
These features all play fine on a chipped Sony!! Anyone found any other problem discs with this machine?
Cheers.

Read my mailbag comment?

You get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap DVD player expect dodgy performance on some discs.

I bought my Pioneer 505 for £380, and it hangs on Evil Dead 2. :p

Before I forget it has terrible trouble with the best scenes near the end of The Exorcist on R1 as well.
