Anyone renewed there car tax online?

Neiliboy (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 31st July 2007, 14:16

I just did....p*** easy it was too.......even though £175 is absolute extorsion >:(

So anyway......my tax disk runs out today and i have to wait up to 5 days for a new one to arrive in the post.......well what if some wa*ker of a traffic warden or copper looks at my current disk and tells me its expired?? Can they do anything or do i drive round like a doofus with a note next to the tax disk explaining i`ve paid online???

Companies that have p**sed me off so much that I will never use them again and I hope you dont either....
Jacks Fish & Chips of Cambridge ridiculously overpriced and overpackaged chips. £1.20 for a stupidly small portion of chips - they need to go up north for a good lesson in fish and chips
Alloy Bodies of Manchester - The Grand Daddy & Benchmark for shockingly poor customer service.
Capital Bank Leasing who are part of [B]BOS
& are f**ing useless & struggle to action the smallest request but are fantastically efficient at taking money out of my account
[B]Abbey National
Absolutely diabolical service - how hard is it to change £60 of coins into notes????
....more coming soon no doubt.....

Technically I think they can do you as the offence is not displaying a valid disc. Their point will be that you should have allowed for the delivery time. You`ll probably be okay though, cause how often does that sort of thing ever get checked?

If you think £175 is expensive, wait until we pay by the mile.

Did you print off the confirmation? Carry a copy of that if you did. Although it is no excuse, it will show you have done it rather than just your say so.

I received my new Tax disc the very next day after renewing online, couldn`t believe how easy & simple it was to be honest. Hopefully you`ll get yours soon enough however the postal strikes may find a way to mess that up.

Yeah, I renewed by internets. Not only does it make the post office way look like a p*** take, but it emphasises the fact that all cars are on a central database anyway, thus negating the f***ing point of having a tax disc.

I mean, seriously, whats the f***ing point? The filth check the database rather than just relying on the disc anyway. F***ing pains in the arse that the DVLA are.....

Anyway, in summary, yes, if they decide to be bastards, it is literally an offense to drive without it. But, like I say, its so easy to check they would have to be a complete c*** to do you (not that this has ever stopped anyone before...).

Yeah I did mine at the last min online and wondered if I would get done, but I am sure if I had I would have gone to court with my online printout and argued the case:D

Done it loads of times now.
Works very well.

I used to wish DVLA would allow Direct debit for roadtax, but since the wife`s car is now only £35 a year,I don`t mind so much... 8) :D

I did this a while back - ordered on the last day of the month.
I drove round on the watch for rozzers or wardens - apparently its at their "discretion" as to whether they issue you with a ticket.
So I just had to hope i met one in a good mood.
But the disk arrived 2 days later and that was that!
